A face you may not recognise because he’s usually indoors, behind a computer, helping to keep Skydive Spain within reach of anyone and everyone who wants to make a skydive is our beloved marketing manager, Elias.
Elias joined the team nearly 6 years ago with a passion for marketing that eventually led him to make his first skydive with us.
Even though he isn’t seen at the dropzone very often, he’s a very important part of why Skydive Spain is a special place. We’re lucky to have him and hope you get the chance to meet him next time you’re visiting us.
Have a read here about Elias.

What’s your name and where are you from? Elías Garzón López

Where have you lived? Delemont (Switzerland), Germantown (Maryland, USA) and Seville.

How long have you been at Skydive Spain? Since December 2012, so almost 6 years.

What’s your favorite thing about your job? Its dynamic, diverse and ever-changing.

How many jumps do you have? Jump, in singular. One 🙂 (tandem)

Tell us about what you do at Skydive Spain. I take care of the marketing (along with the rest of the awesome marketing team!). Offline, online, agencies, partnerships… all that good stuff.

What sort of things do you like to do outside of the office? Spending time with my family outdoors (I have two boys, aged 2 and 4), share moments with good friends, follow my football team (Betis) and think about what all of this thing called life is all about.

Tell us something about you that might surprise us. I was an au pair in the US (program where you live with a host family where you take care of the children) and a footbal coach (European football). I taught group classes to ages starting from 3 years old to one on one training with my oldest student who was an amazing 55 year old woman who loves football!).

What do you think makes a good team? Having people that can be honest and comfortable with each other. Having a goal or vision. Having a leader that can make the team members happy and motivated all along the way.

What is a typical day like for you at Skydive Spain? I work from the Booking Office, starting at 9 normally. Emails, social media and website updates, phone calls, campaigns and data management. A lot of computer work seasoned with sporadic visits to the dropzone, Seville and partners in our area.

What’s your favorite food? Ummm, so many. If I had to pick one I think I would go for Tortilla de Patatas (Spanish omelet). Its a super classic Spanish dish that everybody in Spain grows up eating with since an early age.

If you could go make a skydive with anyone as your tandem instructor (celebrity, someone from the past, etc.) who would it be?
Anyone who knows what they are doing! I really enjoyed my first skydive with our instructor with Robert, he is awesome. But if I had to pick a celebrity… I would go with Chester Bennington (RIP),  so he could totally rock the freefall with his unique voice.

Any special moment in these 6 years? Arriving to the dropzone for the very first time. It was a great discovery. Chilly morning in December, sun still raising through a foggy morning, everybody getting ready for the day with a great friendly atmosphere and a new stage of life to be started.

Let’s leave with a good life lesson from Elias… Don´t follow. The more you do the less authentic you will become. Explore yourself.
